Okay, Alisa, I've got a blog. Happy?
Actually, "joy" is the reason I decided to finally concede to Alisa's urgings. I have so much to celebrate! As hard as it is at times, I truly love life. And I feel so blessed; especially today!
Eighteen years ago, at this very moment (1AM), we were readying ourselves to drive to Atlanta to pick up our dream-come-true. About ten o’clock in the morning on 27 June 1990, we received the call from LDS Social Services that “we have a beautiful little baby girl waiting” for us there. Coincidentally, Steve was within moments of leaving for the airport to pick up his mother who had been waiting to come for a visit until we “got the call.” She was stunned when we told her that the call came while she was on her way. We shopped for everything we needed for our baby, and spent the rest of the evening washing all of her new clothes, blankets and sundries. We tried to sleep; but finally gave in to the excitement and started the six hour drive to Atlanta, hoping to arrive when they opened their doors…. Fast forward eighteen years, and just at this moment, our daughter returns from her date. She’s all grown up: intelligent, beautiful, discerning, wise, confident, thoughtful, and ready to expand her wings and fly…off to college. (oh, my!)
So, now I have a place to celebrate the memories, soothe the bittersweet transition, commemorate a few accomplishments, muse, and regale the tales of humor and irony that are my life!
