While we were in Virginia, we got a chance to spend a few hours with my sister, Lisa, and her family on their river-front property. Bob is a tug-boat captain who is away for two weeks and then home for two weeks, alternately throughout the year. He is also an accomplished and talented craftsman/carpenter, who is never without a home improvement project. He built-out all of the "wasted spaces" in their previous home, long before the idea was made popular by the TV show. Currently, Bob is in the process of building a timber frame home by ha

nd on their property on the Corrotoman River, just outside of Kilmarnock; near where the it enters the Rappahannock River, just as the Rappahannock deposits into the Chesapeake Bay. It's a beautiful and peaceful part little plot of family fun. Their first step was to build an awesome dock...I don't have any pics of the apartment that is well under way; which is where they will stay while the main house will be constructed. But I do have plenty of pics of my merry men and maids who gathered to camp for the weekend and play with Bob and Lisa's grandchildren who came for a week's visit. When we arrived, they were just trying out a new boat toy...so we joined the festivities.

We all took turns, but my sister had the best wipeout...
caught on video.
Getting Emilie into a river was a huge coup! She is such the
not-outdoorsy-woman! Having her 3 year old second-cousin, Marina, show her up might have helped the cause.

It was such a treat to be able to spend some time with Lincoln and Marina, Amy, Oma, Sam, Meg, and Andy...

Abe showed off the results of his creative sun block application.

Steve finally found the opportunity he'd been seeking to go kayaking.

Lisa helped Emilie to get in touch with her inner-camper.

While Bob, the alter-scout, started the camp-fire...

Andy, the noble knight, guarding the festive fire.
Thank you, Lisa and Bob, for allowing us to crash your river party!
